What the assessment covers
First the airway: how the nose breathes and where the nasal valve sits, because changing tip position can change airflow. Then support, examined rather than estimated: the strength and shape of the lower lateral cartilages, the ligaments that hold them and the septum behind them. Then the envelope: how thick the skin is, how it tans, and how much of a framework it is likely to show. Then what you actually dislike, separated into projection, rotation and definition rather than left as a general wish.
What to bring
Photographs of your face from the front, the side and from below, taken in even light without a filter, because the view from below is the one patients rarely look at and the one that shows tip position most clearly. A list of your current medications, including anything that affects clotting. If you have had nose surgery before, any operative notes or previous plans. And if you have been given a plan elsewhere, bring it: reviewing a plan you already hold is a legitimate reason to book.
What happens if surgery is not for you
You will be told, and the finding will be explained. Some assessments end with a recommendation to treat the bridge or the base instead, some with treatment of a breathing problem, some with a delay until a health issue is controlled, and some with no operation at all. That is a result rather than a rejection: the purpose of the appointment is to match an operation to a problem and to the tissue available, and for the tip the tissue is frequently the deciding factor.
How to arrange it
Contact the outpatient line, or write through the address on the contact page, and say that you are asking about the tip of your nose. If you are travelling from outside Chongqing, say so when you book: the team can tell you what can be reviewed from photographs and history beforehand and what genuinely needs an in-person examination, which for the tip includes feeling the cartilage and the skin rather than only looking at them.
